The internet, personal anecdotes/stories from others, and advice from television could make it difficult to decipher what is the appropriate way to eat healthy and live a healthy lifestyle. Melissa is a licensed and registered dietitian who enjoys taking time to help you with your nutritional concerns. She believes it is important to keep up-to-date with the latest practice guidelines, practice standards, and current studies to provide the most appropriate and effective medical nutrition therapy (MNT) possible.
Melissa received a bachelor's degree in dietetics and institutional administration, and master’s degree in nutrition from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, TX. Melissa has also completed her dietetic internship as part of her masters degree program at TWU.
Melissa has 6 years of experience in the dietetic world, beginning her career at Early Childhood Intervention for Metrocare Services providing MNT for children from birth to 3 years of age. Melissa has also taught after school nutrition classes to families for The Concilio. Along with her work at Lemond Nutrition, Melissa works at Parkland Hospital providing MNT to patients with a variety of medical conditions.
Melissa believes being active in local dietetic organizations is important. She is currently the outgoing prseident for the Dallas Dietetic Alliance, and has been the meeting reminder, membership head, meeting coordinator, and on the nominating committee in the past. She is also a member of the Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and was the awards coordinator for the northeast region for the
On Melissa’s free time, you can find her outside running all over Dallas. Melissa has run 8 marathons, and 1 ultra marathon. And she continues to train for more!
