It's here again! March is National Nutrition Month and this year's theme is Go Further with Food. The meaning is multi-dimensional. On one hand, it is like the advice of the USDA Dietary Guidelines where it is suggested to make "shifts" over time to a healthy eating pattern. On the other hand, going further is literally getting the most out of the food we eat -- reducing food waste, storing food properly and meal prepping.
Going further with your food could mean something for you while it could mean something different to someone else. You might want to lower your sugar intake as a way of getting healthy. Your friend or family member may want to reduce food waste to lower the family grocery bill. Both are great goals that fall under going further with food.
Follow along with us as we blog about National Nutrition Month all month long! And be sure to visit the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' National Nutrition Month page for tips, tricks and resources that will help you go further with your food.
