August is time to celebrate the 5th Annual Kids Eat Right Month, and around here we are all about kids, families, and improving their overall relationship with nutrition, so we are going to celebrate! August is a great time to draw attention to “Kids Eat Right” because there is an excitement as well as a natural planning process that is happening as we gear up for a new school year and the start to new sports seasons. It is a great time to check our mindset towards food, the options we provide for ourselves and our children, and ways to encourage our children to be the healthiest versions of themselves (mind, body, spirit).
In our home, back to school has a whole new meaning this August. Our oldest son will begin pre-K at the school where my husband works, so I will be practicing what I preach regarding meal and snack planning! Being the first-born and structured little guy that he is, my son already has his first day of school lunch planned out for me (2 weeks early!). This could get interesting ????….
All joking aside, he is spot on. Planning ahead and thinking through our meal plans or snack plans is often the key to success!
At Lemond Nutrition, when we work with families, one of the biggest requests we have is for easy lunch/dinner ideas, snack ideas, etc. When we start thinking about all the activities, busy schedules and the meals/snacks needed in between, it is easy to feel overwhelmed. This new year, I encourage you to take one day a time and not let the health and wellness of your family become last priority. Fuel for the accomplishments you want to achieve.
We view empowering kids and families on food and nutrition as a team effort, so below you will find several of the websites I personally enjoy getting ideas from, as well as resources and ideas we share here at Lemond. All ideas can be modified to fit your preferences, diet needs, etc. I encourage you to follow Lemond Nutrition as well as these pages on Facebook and/or Instagram. I love seeing simple ideas in front of me at various times throughout the week, keeping me motivated to stick to the plan for preparing family meals or just gaining new ideas to spice things up.
**We are not in partnership or invested in these companies in any form. We just enjoy the great resources they provide families. **
